The Project

The site is located in east County Clare within the Sleive Aughty  Mountains adjacent to the Gort to Tulla Road.  The proposal is to install eight x 3MW turbines that will produce enough electricity to power 22,000 Irish houses.    

The site is on land owned by Coillte and is planted with conifers. It benefits from excellent access, wind resource and a Gate 2 grid connection.

The project is now owned by SWS Ltd. Pending receipt of full planning consent during 2010 then the wind farm will be financed and constructed by SWS in 2011.
